Summary:

Apple frequently publishes updates to Mac OS X. Occasionally these updates make changes to the web setup that can break the web interface for MassTransit. This article describes how to ensure that MassTransit functions properly after updating your Mac OS X installation.

Summary:

Yes, all MassTransit product types run natively on macOS as of version 4.2 to version 6.0.

Description:

Acronis Disk Director 11 Home

The following describes macOS compatibility for other recent versions:

MassTransit Web Client

MassTransit Web Client versions 5.1 and later run natively on macOS.

MassTransit Servers in Compatibility Mode

Acronis Files Connect versions 10.0.4 and later have been tested for compatibility with macOS 10.12 ‘Sierra’. If you are running an earlier version of Acronis Files Connect, please install 10.0.4 or later to support Sierra client Macs.

Question:

Is it possible to change my password from the Macintosh when using Acronis Files Connect (formerly ExtremeZ-IP) on my server? Are there any issues I should be concerned about?

Question:

Why are my Intel Macs getting a Connection Failed 2 error?

Answer:

Disk

This error only happens if you are connecting to Microsoft Services for Macintosh (SFM) using the custom Microsoft User Authentication Module (MSUAM). This issue does not affect Acronis Files Connect because it uses either the built-in DHX or Kerberos User Authentication Modules which work fine on the Intel Macs.

Summary:

As noted in a previous Knowledge Base article, there is a bug in Mac OS X 10.5.6 that causes it to report no search results when searching against AFP servers other than Mac OS X 10.5, including Acronis Files Connect (formerly ExtremeZ-IP), Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger), Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther), and Microsoft's now discontinued Services for Macintosh (SFM) on Windows 2000 or Windows 2003.

This article applies to:

  • Acronis True Image for Mac

Symptoms

During backup of your Mac, you see the following error in logs:

Request failed. Parallels Desktop is not installed.

Cause

As Acronis True Image for Mac has a possibility to back up Parallels Desktop virtual machines, during the disk level backups it sends to the system a request to check whether Parallels Desktop is installed.

Description

The following Acronis products support macOS:

  • Acronis True Image 2016 and later
  • Acronis True Image for Mac (2015 version)
  • Acronis Backup 12.5
  • Acronis Backup Cloud
  • Acronis Mobility

(!) Other Acronis products do not support Apple Mac OS X. This means that:

Description

Acronis Disk Director (any version and edition) is not supported on Mac computers.

This includes:

  1. Installing and using Acronis Disk Director on macOS (any version)
  2. Installing and using Acronis Disk Director on BootCamp Windows
  3. Installing and using Acronis Disk Director on Parallels Windows or any other virtual machine on Mac computer
  4. Running Acronis Disk Director from a bootable media on Mac and any virtual machine on it

Symptom

Installation of Acronis True Image on Mac fails with the error message 'Acronis software for business is installed on your Mac'.

Cause

Acronis True Image is incompatible with other Acronis software on Mac. Any other Acronis programs must be uninstalled before installing Acronis True Image.

Acronis True Image 2016 supports these operating systems:

  • Windows 10 (all editions)
  • Windows 8.1 (all editions)
  • Windows 8 (all editions)
  • Windows 7 SP1 (all editions)
  • Windows XP SP3 (32-bit) with limitations*
  • Windows Home Server 2011
  • OS X El Capitan 10.11
  • OS X Yosemite 10.10
  • OS X Mavericks 10.9

Acronis True Image 2016 supports these mobile operating systems:

In Mac OS X Catalina, Apple introduced a Notarization of software requirement. More details can be read here.

Even though the Backup Agent for MAC should install and function properly on build 12.5.14800 , the OS would still produce a warning that the software could not be checked for malware:

'X can't be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software.
This software needs to be updated. Contact the developer for more information.'

Acronis True Image is available in three packs (tiers): 1 computer, 3 computers, 5 computers.

If you have a 1-computer subscription, you can upgrade to a 3-computer or a 5-computer subscription. A 3-computer subscription can be upgraded to a 5-computer subscription.

To upgrade to a 3-computer subscription, you need to purchase an Acronis True Image (Essential, Advanced or Premium) for 3 computers. Three 1-computer subscriptions cannot be automatically summed up into a 3-computer subscription.

Introduction

You can transfer your existing Acronis True Image license to a new computer, if the previously used computer becomes retired and is no longer used. In other cases, a new Acronis license must be bought for the new computer.

Introduction

Using Acronis True Image 2019 and later you can duplicate all your data and make macOS bootable on your new hard drive via Disk Cloning. You can use this to migrate to a new Mac computer or to clone the system to an external HDD and have a bootable copy of the system.

Keep in mind the following limitations:

Symptoms

When recovering your Mac via Acronis rescue media, you have erased the system volume on the target disk by using Disk Utility prior to recovering the system.

Recovery completes without errors, but the system does not boot after restore.

Cause

Issue in the product.

This issue will be fixed in future versions of Acronis True Image.

Solution

As a workaround, erase the entire disk and format it as APFS before recovering your Mac:

RAID5 server

C: drive has 312mb available

D: drive has 5g

100gig of unallocated space to add to both, but I can't install acronis, even on another drive. What is my best option here?

Free up space on c:. If you are that low, you have other issues to worry about as you don't have adequate space for temp files, paging, logs, patches, etc. You typically should not let the OS partition or OS drive dip below 10% free space as you need that free space just to maintain normal OS functionality.

Run system cleanup on the C: drive. Delete old MS patch caches, move non critical data to somewhere else, delete old profiles, etc.

FYI... DD11 is not intended for server OS and is deprecated. DD12 was last updated on December 2015 as well. I'm pretty sure the default rescue media for DD11 won't work with RAID (it's Linux based and probably doesn't have the necessary drivers). You should download the rescue media as an .iso from your account, burn to disc and see if you can boot it. If you can, does it see the raid set as a drive? I'm guessing it won't. Raid typically needs WinPE and also usually requires you to provide those drivers seperately into the WinPE since most RAID controllers are third party and driver support is not in the Windows ADK (which is used to build your WinPE rescue media), by default.

Thanks for the reply. As suspected, this is very bad news.

I've been asked to work on this server owned by a small doctor's office and their server is in the condition it is because no one has monitored it properly for years. 10% free space on the C: drive would have been easy to maintain in the past to prevent this problem, of course.

I'm sad to hear DD11 is not meant for this task, as the acronis tech and sales team assured me this was the right product to reccommend.

Even worse is that the boot drive has very literally NO space to free up. I brought it from 0mb to 312mb only by deleting temp files and a secondary user profile. It has some very sensitive legacy software for their practice and I have no idea how to address this problem without a complete reformat and reinstallation of their software, which will cost somewhere around $4-5k for the specialized assistance it requires.

The ISO method did not work last night :/

I have no idea how to address this issue anymore, ugh.

Was this a recent purchase? If so, ask for a refund.

Technically, none of the True Image Home products are supported for Server OS. However, it will work - it's really just a way to protect Acronis as they list the supported OS for installation.

That said, I would swap out DD11 for Acronis True Image 2017 perpetual license. Install it on another computer for the time being. Build WinPE rescue media using our MVP tool (you need to download and install the Windows 10 ADK first - pick the top 3 options only - 3.4Gb worth of stuff. Once installed, run the MVP winpe tool (linked below along with the ADK). The WinPE rescue media, built with Windows 10 ADK and the included IRST drivers should see yoru RAID set and allow you to take an offline backup of the server for posterity. At that point, if you're completely out of space, then it's time to brave upgrading the RAID drives with something bigger and restoring the image back to them. Make sure to annotate the existing disks as they show up in the RAID (which port or RAID identifier) and physically mark them as well. Then pop in your new, larger drives and restore your image to them.

Also, for your reference with requesting a refund, if this is a recent purchase...

Acronis Disk Director Server

Are you sure you purchased Disk Director 11 and not Acronis Backup 11.7? I can't imagine a technician telling you to purchase Disk Director 11 for anything recent - especially when DD12 is the 'latest' and came out December 2017. On the other hand, Acronis backup 11.7 is more current (replaced by Backup 12, but I like 11.7 better - IMHO).
